Illawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre

A living and vibrant culture

The Illawarra Aboriginal Culture Centre and Keeping place is an Aboriginal community-controlled, not-for-profit organisation that is committed to meeting the social, cultural, and economic needs of Aboriginal people in the Illawarra.

Based in Wollongong and working across the region, we are driven to achieve excellence in providing advocacy and culturally appropriate services to meet the needs of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

We have a changing display of local Aboriginal art at the cultural centre every month. We also stage an annual Aboriginal Arts Trail running in eight galleries from Wollongong to Gerringong for two weeks in March. The Trail will show that Aboriginal culture is a living and vibrant culture and has been sustained for thousands of years along the beautiful Illawarra Coast.

We also have an Aboriginal women’s program, an Elders program, plus craft classes and other programs for Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people
