Boomalli Takes Over Woollahra Gallery for “Now & Forever” Exhibition
16-07-2025

ACHAA Member Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative has taken the reins at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf with the exhibition Now & Forever. Launched during NAIDOC Week 2025, this captivating exhibition featuring works by senior and emerging artists from Boomalli, celebrating more than three decades of First Nations creativity.

Boomalli, established in 1987, has been a pioneering force in contemporary Aboriginal art, supporting and promoting the work of NSW language group artists. The Now & Forever exhibition showcases a diverse array of artworks that reflect the rich cultural heritage and artistic innovation of First Nations communities across NSW.

Curated by star artist and curator at Boomalli, Kyra Kum-Sing; the exhibition promises to share the depth of talent and cultural connection held by the Co-operative; now and for the past 37 years. Boomalli’s archives of works are an incredible asset, and Kyra and the curatorial teams at Boomalli are skilled at weaving together emerging artists’ voices with their legacy artists’ works.

Emerging artists such as Nioka Lowe-Brennan, curator of Boomalli’s 2025 Black Family, Aboriginal Love exhibition, or Rubyrose Bancroft; a powerfully political and satirical artist that merges pop culture references with political messages rooted in anti-colonial power. We are excited to be supporting Rubyrose as we head to Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair in August.

NAIDOC Week 2025 marks 50 years of NAIDOC. Each year, communities are strengthened by the week’s opportunities for visibility, connection, support, and celebration. This exhibition is no exception to this, with Woolhara Gallery helping to bring the Boomalli legacy east to continue placing Boomalli as the leading voice for NSW Aboriginal art in Sydney.

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate NSW Aboriginal culture in Sydney’s east this NAIDOC Week, witness the vibrant and diverse expressions at Now & Forever. For more information and to plan your visit, please visit the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf website.
