Five ACHAA Members plus ACHAA itself as the sector Peak Body have been successful with Create NSW multi-year funding.
Together it represents a Create NSW investment of $3.46 million in ACHAA and these members over four years, with annual amounts varying between $118K and $250K among the five recipients.
Congratulations to ACHAA Members Armidale Aboriginal Cultural Centre; Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative; Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Associate Member Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance.
A sixth Aboriginal organisation was successful in Moogahlin Performing Arts, based in Redfern and Brewarrina, receiving $400,000 annually. It takes the entire multi-year funding round investment in NSW Aboriginal culture, heritage and arts organisations to just over $5 million for the next four years from 2026.
“It’s going to be very impactful for our member centres,” ACHAA CEO Steve Miller said. “The funding supports their community cultural work and for four years will provide some security in keeping the doors open and the ability to plan for the future.
“We are very grateful to Create NSW on behalf of all our members for recognising the policy released at the end of power in what we all do in unity for advancing NSW Aboriginal culture, heritage and arts.
The good news doesn’t stop there. In the openly competitive all-artform round, many other successful non-Indigenous arts organisations across NSW will also work with First Nations artists in their programs, including more ACHAA Associate Members in Arts Outwest, Murray Arts, Albury City Council/Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA), Blacktown City Council/Blacktown Arts, Parramatta City Council and the National Association for Visual Arts (NAVA).
In all 82 NSW arts organisations shared in the close to $17m per annum, informed by the Creative Communities Arts, Culture and Creative Industries policy.
With the policy’s key pillar of prioritising First Nations culture, there’s even more good news expected from the Create NSW two-year funding round that closed recently.
