ACHAA Welcomes Our Newest Member Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation
02-10-2026

ACHAA is pleased to announce our newest core member, the Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation.

Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) is a Stolen Generations Survivor led not-for-profit Aboriginal community-controlled organisation established to help restore and reconstruct the identity, dignity and integrity of Aboriginal men who were forcibly removed from their families and put into the Kinchela Boys Home (KBH) near Kempsey and to address the intergenerational trauma that adversely impacts on the lives of the men’s families and descendants.

Joining ACHAA as a Core Member follows Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation acquiring the Coolamon Arts Hub, using the space to feature arts programming and exhibitions that elevate Aboriginal voices, focusing on KBH Survivors, descendants and family members’ connection to culture through their art and artistic expression. Through this work, KBHAC honours the endurance of KBH survivors, and reclaims the artistic practice that was once used through staged photographs as propaganda.

KBHAC was established in 2002, with a focus on improving the social, emotional, cultural and spiritual wellbeing of the KBH survivors and their families in a meaningful way. KBHAC has developed a unique survivor-led approach to organisational governance and practice, built on and informed by the guidance and unique insights offered by survivors.

Amongst their support activities are sustainable healing programs, disability support program, providing truth-telling educational materials, resources and experiences for schools and organisations, as well as their National Redress Scheme support services, Elder care and support, and ongoing Truth-Telling through their Justice Reinvestment Program.

ACHAA congratulates KBHAC for expanding their work into a more permanent space, providing vital cultural infrastructure to their community, and welcomes them to ACHAA membership.
