Greeting Card Multi-Pack – Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Authentic prints on cards by NSW Aboriginal artists made possible through respect for Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) principles and protocols.
Spirit Women by Jingalu – In Gumbaynggirr nation, the matriarch is responsible for protecting culture and passing down through generations. This applies to decoding who can marry who. . . blood lines are determined through the grandmother’s heritage.
White Wash by Tori Ann Donnelly – In dreaming to go beyond the property gate and into the hazy horizon line, I have through art and culture been united with family and ancestors. I walked on my Country where I was born to know where I am from, to speak to my ancestors. I recorded the moment in watercolour.
Guuray Jagarr (Blossom Time) by Laurel Swan (Foley) – As the cycle of the seasons on Gumbaynggirr Country continues, our continued march through time is heralded by County. Our connection to place is mapped in our DNA, as we see and feel each change to the flora, fauna, winds, and skies; knowing that one change is connected inextricably to another. Our Old People read these changes like the pages of an eternal book. Seeing the blossoms of the gums flower, knowing that the migration of whales would closely follow, and the mating season of Dunggirr (Koala) would begin. Lore recognises how we monitor the impact of climate change on Country.
Sacred Land by Lindsay Anderson – This artwork speaks to our country that is often unseen for its true value. Our old trees, carved as markers for camp sites, ceremony, burial and birthing. For millennium, our people have gathered & communicated through the natural landscape and modified trees.
This project was made possible by the Federal Government’s Indigenous Visual Art Industry Support (IVAIS) Program.
