National Indigenous Art Fair Relocates to Barangaroo’s Cutaway

The National Indigenous Art Fair 2026 will return this July with a significant new chapter, relocating to The Cutaway in Barangaroo for its seventh edition.
Organised by ACHAA Associate Member First Hand Solutions of La Perouse, the annual fair is widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading ethical marketplaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, bringing together more than 50 First Nations artists, designers and makers from communities across the country.
The move to The Cutaway marks a shift for the event, which has previously been staged at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in The Rocks. The newly fitted out, expansive, underground Barangaroo venue will accommodate a larger program, befitting the fair’s continued growth and national reach.
Visitors can expect a vibrant three-day program that extends beyond the marketplace, with live music and dance performances, cultural workshops, artist talks and bush food experiences all on offer. Alongside the artworks, jewellery, textiles and homewares are sold directly by artists, NIAF’s curated activities aim to foster deeper engagement with First Nations traditions.
The fair remains an artist-first ethical model: all proceeds from sales go directly back to the artists and their communities, supporting remote art centres and helping address economic barriers faced by many Indigenous creatives.
So far, ACHAA members signed up for NIAF 2026 include Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation, Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre, and Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative. ACHAA was privileged to take all three with us to Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair in 2025, so we know all too well the vibrancy and talent their artist networks have to share there.
