Gold for The Bundian Way on the Far South Coast
17-12-2025

The Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council has won the Gold Award for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism Experiences at the 2025 NSW Tourism Awards. This milestone win is a testament to their ongoing commitment to highlighting culture and Country as well as the Far South Coast’s growing cultural tourism industry.

The Bundian Way, a walking trail of the Yuin people is a tourism and heritage walking track that spans from the coast to the high country. Through Eden LALC-led guided tours and cultural experiences, visitors are invited to walk parts of the trail while hearing stories of Country, heritage and cultural traditions passed down across generations.

These immersive experiences aim to educate visitors about Aboriginal culture and foster deeper respect and connection to the land, delivering on a vision rooted in combining Aboriginal knowledge and community-led tourism. According to Eden LALC, the win confirms this vision is resonating.

In a message to supporters, Eden LALC celebrated the win as a capstone to a massive year of achievements for them, coming alongside the successful launch of new cultural experiences, expanded partnerships across tourism and education, and increased events. This expansion was all while creating meaningful employment, training opportunities, and cultural pride for their local Aboriginal community.

The ACHAA connection is the Monaro Bubaraa Gadu Cultural Centre (formerly spelt Monaroo Bobberrer Gudu) at Jigamy Farm, a long-standing ACHAA member through Two-Fold Aboriginal Corporation. The tours depart from the centre, which also houses the Eden Aboriginal Land Council, a Keeping Place open to the public and a large reception hall and commercial kitchen.

Eden LALC emphasised they are “only just getting started”. With ongoing upgrades to their Keeping Place, and further Bundian Way segments in development, the Council says the coming years promise even more cultural experiences, community employment, and opportunities for visitors to connect meaningfully with Aboriginal heritage.

This is not just a win for Eden LALC, but also for Aboriginal cultural spaces across NSW. With a broader movement toward culturally grounded, community-led tourism, Aboriginal leadership and heritage continue to drive both economic opportunity and cultural awareness and appreciation.
