Dereke is a proud Yuin man on his mother’s side and Dunghutti man on his father’s side, whose art is a reflection of his cultural heritage and personal journey. He began painting in 2012, inspired by the rich traditions of Aboriginal storytelling and the influence of his mother, renowned artist Lorraine Brown. As an emerging artist, Dereke is steadily carving out his own creative path, blending traditional themes with contemporary expression.
